Foreign Language?

I'm looking to take Sp.3 for my senior year. However, I've also considered taking Sp.3 online over the summer and taking AP Sp.4 senior year. Would I be at a loss with just 3 years of prep panish or should I go ahead and take the spanish this summer so I can finish with AP? I'm not sure how big of a factor foreign language is for college admissions but I'd still like to look more competitive with AP Spanish as opposed to finishing with Sp.3. The online course does cost money.. about 279 for half credit and 379 for full credit. With all this in mind.. any advice please? Thank you.(:

Some colleges require 4 years of one foreign language. Otherwise, I don’t think you should think that you’re more competitive because you’ve taken AP Spanish rather than 3 years of it.

You will definitely be more competitive for competitive colleges getting through AP. The bottom line if you aim high is to do as much as you can in all areas.

I jumped into AP after Spanish 3 (at our school AP is considered level five). As long as you have a good handle on most forms of verb conjugation and have a decent-sized vocabulary, you should be all right to go into AP–and it will probably make a noticeable difference in your app, not just because of the added rigor, but because it shows a commitment to learning.
