I was recently accepted to the University Rochester under the early notification program. Super pumped. This school is one of my top choices, however, I just can't find too much information regarding the foreign language programs at URoch.

So, for any of you who know, how are the programs in French, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, and/or American Sign Language? These are the languages I'm interested in studying.

Also, I know URoch is an awesome school for research. How is the linguistics department and what opportunities are there for undergrad students?

If you look up the modern languages & cultures department, you’ll find all the classes in those areas. ASL is a separate program, but if you search for ASL that will take you to it.

How are the classes? I don’t know. I know linguistics - which is a separate department too - has a couple of research labs for undergrads, but I don’t know anything about these programs.

Several of my d’s friends majored in foreign languages and otehrs in linguistics. They were all very pleased with their programs. The foreign language majors also spent a year abroad (rather than just a semester) in the country they were studying.

Linguistics is an excellent department as well.
