Forex Investment Club (Foreign currency trading)

I'm thinking about creating a Forex Investment club at my school. the problem is I can't find a teacher sponsor. Grrrr... I drives me mad. is anyone else here interested in Forex, foreign currency trading??
It's really high return and low starting capital. Anyone interested? I'm thinking If I can form this club, and other people form this club too at their school, then this can be a national club thingy, like the key club...

I m definitely into foreign currency trading. Although I doubt that the high schools are the best enviroment to create such a club.

You should explain your plan in detail more.

I'm aware of Forex but you have to realize that even with the high amount of adults in the stock market, most of them are faintly aware of what forex even is.

I'm sorry, but you'd be better off with Investment Club and not mention Forex. Forex is a different level.

Besides, you also have to consider that fact that you can lose huge amount of money on Forex just as easily as you make them. And who is going to pay for the debt? You or the club?

I agree with Tufts that Forex investing in high school is not going to be a successful idea. Although you can have an investment club and invest in something else.

Sorry.

Ben.

B_B makes the great point about the huge amount of money lost. Trading is a skill that many do not possess. Anything with high return also may have high losses.

Take a good hard thought about how you would react if you lost all your money through trading currencies. I'm assembling a penny-stock list that I intend to invest it and aim for marginal gains and I've given hard hard thought about if I can still be myself I lose it all.

If you have the guts and determination, then do it. Make your own investing club. However, NEVER ever tell anyone to buy a certain thing, only to discuss ideas on what to do. All markets are volatile and just one event can undermine everything.

yeah, you guys are right. I did loose lots of money, around $350 to be exact. but I can at least get people interested in Forex even if they don't actually paticipate in real trading. it can be a demo trading thing.
but I still have to say, it's much easier to trade forex than stock because of the low starting capital and possible high gain. my gain was $70 the first day, so I thought, wow, this is easy, and I put all of my $500 on to one trade and guess what happened...
I still want to be the president though, sounds good, right?
the investment club at my school doesn't do anything serious. my school has many smart, really really smart people. I'm thinking about recruiting members directly out of Calc BC class...

I'm sorry to hear that of your loss. How old are you? A few years of maturity may help. I've grown up around stock marekts so I've gotten much more adjusted to it over time.

Bear in mind, smart kids do not represent good investors. While it is mostly math, noticing trends, understanding passions of other buyers, relating to the fluctations of the markets is a different academic skill altogether.

Never put all your money on one stock. There is much too that can happen. Also, I'm not sure if Forex allows this, but never buy on margin. It can seriously ruin you.

You'd be better off starting a stock market club that focuses on trading equities. I'd wait until college and just join the finance club.

B_B how long have you been involved into Forex? I was faintly aware of it, (more interested in equities) but I read more on it today.

Seems like a rougher market out there. I mean reading a country's economic status might be pretty hard.

I'm secretary of my investment club, and we just made a simulation stock market demo. At the beginning of each meeting we discuss what some good stocks are to buy/short and then we play halo till the late bus comes. If you want to do something like that, investopedia.com has a good simulator.

I'm 17 in a week, I been involved with forex for about half a year. I know I'm not good that's why I want to try to learn more about it. one thing about forex that's different from stock, it gives you 200:1 leverage for all of your trade, so each second, you can earn/loss a lot depending on the size of your trade. I'm trading using mini account, which when I trade, every few seconds my trade changes by $1.
so maybe I'll give up. thanks to you all.

Guys.

I been in Forex for about 6 months now. I made about some money since I am an overly cautious person and I aviod taking uncalulated risks. I started with about $1,000.

My advice to you guys, IF YOU WANT TO DO FOREX, PLAY THE DEMO FIRST. And get good at it before going in.

Quickflood,
Yes the leverage are great but what happen if you make one wrong step and the leverage can be used against you. Sorry buddy, if you want do really start a club, inform everyone the risks and the positives of Forex.

Ben.

Investopedia is indeed a great site for information. It takes quite a bit of time to take it all in though.

I'm curious at how the 200:1 leverage works. Do you also lose at 200:1 margins too?

I believe so.

And Tufts, I did Forex for about a year now. Tricky business.

+Gains/Losses?

I'd perfer to buy actual NASQ stocks, but until I get up there have to work with the pink-sheet chain.

stop posting here because i am sick of seeing this thread

that is all

Then leave.

That is all.

No, you see...I'm sick of seeing it when I click on high school forum. Ya know? So, let 'er die.

That is all.

As opposed to those that are actually interested? It's a bit different from asking about the starting of a club now. Of course, you probably havn't cared much to read that far as it would take away from your "High School Forum" time.

it's too hard to explain forex,
if you want to learn about it, go to fxcm.com
which is the broker I use.
anyway, I see potential in big gains.
I'm going to try my hardest to start this club anyway just to be a founder / president, I probably won't provoke others to trade it.
