@tpcrd66, yes. You will need to accept a spot, and pay a deposit, somwhere else. In addition to accepting the WL spot, write a letter, highlighting any additional accomplishments, providing updated grades, and explaining why you’re a great fit for F&M. If they have spots after May 1, they may offer you one. At most schools, you will need to respond quickly to a WL offer and pay a deposit. Your first deposit typically is lost.
Accepted!
@drakefan Yay! I guess the unhopeful-sounding email didn’t mean anything as far as getting in or not
@Emsmom1 hahaha you’re right!
I think at this point, its quite clear that colleges in this bracket( of selectivity and financial prowess) choose to waitlist international students who ask for a lot of aid even if they would have been other wise eligible(without the aid factor). Having said that, do we really stand a chance after the waitlisting? Are students with huge financial need eventually accepted from the waitlist at all? Or do they simply choose students with the least need from these waitlists?
@gardenstategal, thanks for the info…I will pass along! Can you clarify, do you send a deposit to the waitlist school with letter as well?
No deposit to WL schools. Just the one where you plan to enroll. Good luck!
You submit deposit to the best choice you have been accepted to, so that they reserve your space. And if you get accepted to your waitlist school, you effectively lose that deposit.
Franklin & Marshall is not a need blind school. They want money it is very obvious.
I am also waitlisted and I asked my regional dean regarding priority in the waiting list. But she surprisingly said they do not have priority in their list. Any idea regarding waiting list of F&M?
@Gopalsontha They take people off the waiting list to round out what they need after people send their deposits in. Say, they really wanted someone who plays the tuba and you play it but 5 people had better stats than you and got accepted, but none decided to attend, so you get pulled off of the waitlist. Or they discover they don’t have anyone from Alaska in the class of 2021.
They definitely look at financial aid needed too, as they only have a certain budget and if you need more money then they have to want you more. The less money you need the easier it is for you to get in, all other things being equal.
@Pheebers thanx
Has anyone on the waitlist heard from FandM ?
Any news about waitlist from F&M??
I called them this morning, and their receptionist told me there is some movement on the list. A few may have already started to hear back
Did some get accepted from the waitlist?
I was waitlisted and heard nothing. So please if you guys have any update please tell us :’(
Still waiting to hear from them. I’ll update if I receive anything.
I emailed them. My regional dean said that they’ll be accepting about 10 to 20 students from waitlist this year, and they’ll contact students via email.
I dont think they have accepted anyone from waitlist yet. Hope we all get a good news soon :))
