Do Guys have a certain deadline to pay the fee to be considered for a fraternity bid? I couldn’t find it on the website. Son isn’t sure if he is going to join, but if he wants to keep his optins open, I think he should pay the fee…
Any info on how it all works would be appreciated. It sounds like the guys go about it differently than the girls.
I don’t know about that, but something my son learned the hard way (at a different university though) is that for guys rush starts WAY before formal rush. If your son is interested in a fraternity it’s important that he get to know the guys in that group before rush starts – ASAP. One of my daughter’s guy friends at Elon didn’t get a bid because not enough of the guys knew him. The guys who knew him loved him, but there were too many who didn’t know what they were voting for and didn’t want to take the chance. So make sure your son knows that it’s important to hang out at the house, watch games with them etc. and get to know everyone if he wants to keep his options open.
Great advice^. My son is in a fraternity, but I can’t recall the fee detail. He should contact the Elon Greek Life office and ask.
Ok - here it is from Spring 2015 - 2. All participants must complete the registration and pay the $30 registration fee online to be eligible to receive a bid.
