my uncle is divorced over 10 years with a daughter who has been in college for 3 years now and him and his ex wife is suppose to pay court ordered tuition for my cousin who will be 22 this year now my ex-aunt both have to pay equally for the college send payment to her school but my ex -aunt went out and got loans and they have grants so every time my uncle send payment it is returned from school saying there is no bill my cousin is worrieds that what my ex-aunt has done will come back to haunt her she says she had no idea my ex aunt and uncle where to pay out of pocket for them i didnt know what to tell her
Your cousin has a right to see her bill and how it is paid. If she didn’t sign for the loans, she’s not responsible. If there are loans, can’t your uncle just save the money that is returned to him and help his daughter pay the loans with that money?
Cousin should get a copy of the bills for all semesters (should be available on her college portal) and match up the costs posted and how they were paid.
its crazy he has been sending the money to my cousin with her student account and the court order case number on it it by personal check every month per the court it was going to the college and they returned like a lump sum of money to him so he was sending it straight to my cousin in her name for student tuition wrote on the check her mom would deposit the money in my cousin personal account and my uncle believes they are splitting the money which he says long as he has his proof he is paying his part there is not to much he can do her roommate told her she would get in trouble for filing for false documents tha’ts how this all came to light last week when they sent my uncle a check back with a letter saying she has no balance unless she goes to summer school. i don’t know what to tell her if she knew what was going on i think she is just as guilty as her mom her parents make over 6 figures but i honestly don’t know if that’s a crime judge ordered them to pay for college mom took out loans parenting loan but she did accept it though so what you think is that illegal she has access to her account she knows there is no bill due now that the roommate has told her she could be in trouble she calling everyone
I don’t see what the problem is here. I can think of plenty of reasons why the mom might have chosen to pay the college cost after financial aid on her own right when the bill came. Especially if she wasn’t certain that the dad would be able to pay every single month. Essentially, the mom is paying everything and the dad is reimbursing his half.
The father is meeting his responsibility as he understands it by sending a check each month to the university to cover half of the costs.
The college doesn’t need all of that money because whatever the student owes after any financial aid has already been paid by the mom. So the college sends the extra money back to the dad.
The dad passes this money on to the child because it is supposed to be going for the child’s education, and he can’t keep it because he’s obligated to help cover the college costs.
The child puts the money into the child’s account, where presumably it can be used to help pay whatever college-related bills the child has - including reimbursing the mom for the dad’s share that the mom paid upfront.
First of all, you really need to use punctuation and capitals. Your posts are too difficult to understand without them.
Secondly (before your thread gets closed for posting for someone else) it sounds like it wouldn’t hurt everyone involved to talk to a lawyer. At the very least your cousin needs to talk to the financial aid office to find out how her bills have been paid. If I were you I’d stay out of it.
If your cousin’s mom is taking out private loans and is pocketing what your uncle sends I don’t see how that would help her. The loans would be your aunt’s responsibility as much as your cousin’s.
The cousin needs to make sure that no one has taken out any loans in her name w/o her knowledge.
