Free/Online ACT practice test?

i basically want to "try out" the ACT and see how well i do on it and decide whether i will take the ACT or the SAT. Before going out and spending $20 on a book (which i might not even use if i decide i like the SAT better) i would like to see if there is a practice test (preferably a previous test or something) online.

thanks

There are three practice tests on-line that I'm aware of, however, I don't know whether any of them were ever actual tests. Don't buy the red book; rent it from your local library, since you won't use it much after you've gone through the tests.

As far as on-line, ACT a PDF called "Registering for the ACT" or something similar, that contains a full-legnth test in its proper format. The other one is chopped into different pages for each section, but the number of problems add up to a full test's worth.

The last comes from Thomas Petersons, who publish ACT's red book and their own test prep material I believe. Again, it may not be an official test.

Hope this helps.

SparkNotes has a great prep tests and they are free. you just have to continuously sign up using different accounts.

umm where exactly are hte SparkNotes practice tests? i don't see any free ones

nevermind ^

There's one in here, with answer sheet and scoring key and everything. This booklet is also available inside the registration packet that your counselor's office might have.

There is a free one on Princeton Review's site too (you have to register but so what):

<a href="http://www.princetonreview.com/college/testprep/testprep.asp?TPRPAGE=244&TYPE=ACT-PRACTICE-TEST%5B/url%5D">http://www.princetonreview.com/college/testprep/testprep.asp?TPRPAGE=244&TYPE=ACT-PRACTICE-TEST</a></p>

I don't think the Princeton Review one is real, so it might not be good for "trying it out".

thanks for hte links...anyone have any that are like the pdf one? i don't really like taking the tests online, i like them better when they are in my hand.
