i basically want to "try out" the ACT and see how well i do on it and decide whether i will take the ACT or the SAT. Before going out and spending $20 on a book (which i might not even use if i decide i like the SAT better) i would like to see if there is a practice test (preferably a previous test or something) online.

There are three practice tests on-line that I'm aware of, however, I don't know whether any of them were ever actual tests. Don't buy the red book; rent it from your local library, since you won't use it much after you've gone through the tests.

As far as on-line, ACT a PDF called "Registering for the ACT" or something similar, that contains a full-legnth test in its proper format. The other one is chopped into different pages for each section, but the number of problems add up to a full test's worth.

The last comes from Thomas Petersons, who publish ACT's red book and their own test prep material I believe. Again, it may not be an official test.

thanks for hte links...anyone have any that are like the pdf one? i don't really like taking the tests online, i like them better when they are in my hand.
