Free or even purchased digital textbooks?

I'm going into UF this fall and have realized that books for my first semester are gonna cost me a fortune to buy and then a fortune to realign my spine after carrying them. Has anyone found a place online to get digital copies of textbooks for free? or paid? PDF, kindle version, text version, legal download, illegal download, even if its something a student scanned into their computer and made a digital copy by them self.

Specifically I'm looking for:

any help would be great :]

Last I checked CGS is an online text automatically. Plus you most likely will not even use it.

gpowsang

You don’t need all those books for calculus. The 3rd one listed is the book calc 1, 2, and 3. It is a huge book and I would only purchase it if you plan on taking all 3. The 4th one listed is the books for calc 1 and 2. If you just get the first one listed it’s actually a really tiny book that only has chapters 1-6 I believe. That (and Webassign) are all you need for calc 1. And I believe that that book is fairly cheap (like $20 or something).

I didn’t take calc 1, but I took calc 2 and I only brought my book to discussion. I never needed it during lecture.

My roommate took Microeconomics, didn’t purchase the book, and still got an A in the class. It’s up to you whether or not to purchase the book.

You only need one of those Microeconomics books. They recommend the second one on the bookstore website.

in case you’re looking for a link of some perfectly legal material uploaded somewhere by a friend, and you happened to forget where it was.

You might not need the book for SLS1102. I took First-Year Florida my freshman year and we didn’t use a book. You should probably wait and ask your teacher to see if you will need it before you buy it.

i did not buy a book for sls1102, but i did need it. they encourage you to buy it by referring to assignments on the syllabus as ‘activity on page 75’. so you wont know what you’re doing unless you borrow a friends book or something.

dont take it either way. waste of time.

thanks for all the info guys.

@afroautumn Im only taking it because I need 1 more credit to make 12 for the semester (the bare minimum), plus the book isnt too expensive so I may just buy and scan.

@Floridagator3, I actually just emailed her making sure and she said I do need it for a
assignments.

@koolgeko91, I realized that same thing after taking a closer look. some are required and some recommend. plus its an online class so the prof cant really check for books.

@gpowsang, Ive been told the book has a CD in the back of it so I’m hoping i can borrow and dl it from a friend if its got the whole book on it.

Thank you all for your help, I really appreciate it :]

According to the department’s website, you only need one book for calculus

This is perfect I am also looking for this stuff. This serves a lot easier to me, thanks for the comments on this thread!
