French and German...what now?

Currently, I am a double major in French and German, with a minor in Leadership Studies. I really would like to get a job in the Government, preferably the CIA, FBI, DOD and a few others. I LOVE languages, and am able to pick them up fairly easily, however my university does not offer any of the critical languages that the government is looking for. Personally, I would have learned Russian in a heartbeat if it was offered!

I'm just looking for advice as to what to do in order to get a position. I've thought about intelligence as well as being a field agent, but I'm not really sure. I'm not sure what I can do in these agencies with these languages. I'm willing to learn other languages, I just can't now.

I also don't know what would be a good backup plan, because government jobs aren't easy to get.

I don't know what should be the next step for me, Grad school, Law School, Peace Corps etc.

Please help me out here!

If you are a senior, you missed the deadlines for most of the government FT jobs, but if you’re a junior, I would suggest looking into the State Department. Foreign Service is a very rewarding career path, and it puts you in a great position to join other agencies, such as the CIA or FBI. If you can stand to take a couple of semesters of Arabic, Farsi, Mandarin or some other language considered especially important, you will increase your odds of getting a job by a LOT.

Applying to the company out of SD gives ****ty odds, but at least you pass clearance, its much more common to join the CIA and get an SD post as cover, not get a job as cover and then try to join the company.

Its important to be realistic.
