Fresh figs?

We’re here at our beach house and a neighbor asked us to pick her fresh figs while she’s gone! Honestly I’ve never even laid eyes on a fresh fig until she brought some over the other day, topped with blue cheese and balsamic. Yum!

Any other suggestions on easy ways to use figs?

Wrap with bacon and pop in the oven, yum yum. Helps to partially cook the bacon first.

Quarter and put in a pot with some balsamic. Reduce by 50% then use as a sauce for either steak or with cheese.

Zuni Cafe’s Chicken with Figs is a superb dish.

Otherwise they pair beautifully with fruit, rich cheese, and sliced meats. Walnuts and honey are other good pairs.

Fig soup is figs and chicken and/or pork cooked in chicken broth. Delicious!

Here’s a recipe but my dad made it with fresh figs, not dried.

I like to take a few and slice them into rounds and add to a salad, especially one with balsamic vinegar dressing.

We have a fig tree. Some years yield more than others.

On the big years I make fig jam. Many recipes out there, I like Fig and Honey Jam with Walnuts Recipe

My D made us figgy pudding over the holidays because all of us were curious. She said it was a lot of work and she wouldn’t do it again.

You can make fig cake. I like to mix a little honey and balsamic and just drizzle over fresh fig or just eat 'em as is.

I grew up in the Italian section of Brooklyn where lots of people had fig trees in their yards. We never did anything with them except wash and eat them fresh from the garden.

Yes, we had fig trees when I was growing up too plus one in our front years (until H removed it). Raw figs washed and eaten just picked are a treat in and of their own glory.

I am so with @kiddie. Fresh ripe figs are so good just like that, fresh. Why would anyone want to ruin it by cooking?
