Apparantly I only need one semester of chem for the major I want to pursue. Should I take general chem or try to take intensive general chem? (I'm in AP Chem this year and I'm doing reasonably well, but I probably won't take the AP exam.)

Gen Chem IS AP Chemistry, so if you want to challenge yourself and learn something new, take intensive gen chem.

my guess is ns you are a seas student? and taking something that is more physics oriented thus only need the one semester of chem?

i am not sure if you can use ap chem to essentially remove the chem requirement or not, a SEAS student might know. but frankly if you just need a semester (and never plan on the more chem based majors or med schol), i would take gen chem. i knew plenty of kids who were in meche and compsci or the like that just took the one semester, and instead took more advanced classes in areas that more closely concerned them.

Do a search and/or look in the helpful threads post. Denzera, C2002, and plenty of others have hashed out the merits of the different chemistry tracks many times before.

yupp im seas going for civil eng. thanks for the advice, i think ill just take g chem :)
