I am an incoming freshman, and i recently attended the college day at UCLA. I read a lot of great things about the freshman clusters and the counselours had a lot of great things to say. What “horror” stories did you hear about the Aging Cluster b/c I wanted to take that one haha? Any advice would be appreciated :)

I did the Labor/Social Justice cluster. By far my most time consuming class despite quarter 2’s interesting material. I found the information interesting and I received A’s, but it was very, very, very time consuming. Not worth it.

OMG, I went to TCHS! (But I am replying to a 3 year old post.)

Back when I was at TC, I resented the school; but, now that I look back retrospectively, I feel thankful of all the policies there that helped prep students for college such as requiring students in AP classes to take AP tests and having a mandatory 100 hr community service graduation requirement.

Hey guys, I was wondering why clusters were discouraged for engineering students. Does anybody know? Someone in this thread something about less benefits but can anyone explain a little more in depth? And also, if I was planning on transferring into the engineering department around the Spring quarter of my freshman year or the Fall quarter of my Sophomore year (around there), should I not take a Cluster?

Well there is no honors program if you’re in engineering and one of the benefits of a cluster is that it gives you A LOT of honor credit. Also, I heard that engineers have the option to take a engineering class that satisfies the W requirement so if you plan on taking that class (whatever that is) then you don’t need the cluster since the two big things about the cluster is that it gives you a lot of honors credit and satisfies the W requirement while fulfilling 3 GEs
