Freshman Dorm Advice? Have not visited school yet and need some help.

My son was accepted to USC for the fall - Annenberg School of Communications. We are from the east coast and have not gotten a chance to visit the school yet. I understand that he should fill out the housing application as soon as possible to “get in line”. Can anyone please recommend what dorms he should list - he probably would not want the “party dorm” but would like to be social. Which dorms are good for kids who want a balance of academics/social? Thank you!

Everyone’s wants related to housing are different. Some want a typical dorm setting with a perceived higher social index and are willing to forgo A/C and private baths to gain such. Others want A/C and private baths and as much space as possible. USC Housing at least offers a variety of options… from very basic no frills dorm style rooms with community baths and no A/C… to Suites and Apartments. I would study the various floor plans and amenity descriptions carefully before deciding. My kids wanted space, A/C and private baths… so a suite or apartment. I will invite @CADREAMIN to share her thoughts based on your description…

Gonna post in main thread
