Hi guys, I was admitted to Northeastern as an incoming U.S freshman for regular decision and will likely attend. For incoming freshman what is the housing selection process? Is it a completely random lottery system, do I have to find a roommate, or is it first come first serve for those who put their deposits in?
Most of the housing is more or less the same, unless you’re in Honors, you’re living in one particular very nice building. You select a Living Learning Community (LLC) based on your interests, and the LLC’s are places into buildings based on how many students select each. You pick your top 3 LLC’s, but most get their first choice. So you’ll be around people with a shared interest from day 1
Here are the available LLC’s: https://www.northeastern.edu/housing/living-learning-communities/
The LLC selection is part of a housing survey that asks about living habits (night owl? music? etc) that would affect you and your roommate. You can also request a roommate if you like, but usually the random placement works best and is what I would recommend. Most pick their roommates based on personality, not living habits, and end up regretting it.
