I am going into junior year, feeling unsatisfied. I had a 3.3 GPA freshman and sophomore year, being placed in 3 honors courses and 1 AP course for junior year. If I can reach a ~ 3.8 GPA in junior year, and manage to get at least a 1300 on my SAT, will I have a change in reaching school such as UConn, UMass, Rutgers etc.?
That would place you at about average at those schools, so yes, you have a good chance. Also, a positive grade trend is always good on college apps, since it shows that you are growing and working harder. Make sure you’re extracurriculars are things that you’re passionate about, love, and make an impact on you. Also, spend time on your essays. But remember, junior year is your year to shine, so always prioritize school/grades and always try to grow.
heyo i’m also a soph so I can’t speak from experience but a 3.8 GPA and a 1300 SAT score is sufficient enough to be comparable with applicants to the schools you listed. but like there’s also a lot of other factors that go into the admission process other than the straight numbers. Your financial status, geographical location, EC’s/hooks, connections, etc. are also big factors. For example, it’s easier to get into umass if you are in-state and that applies to uconn and rutgers as they are all state schools.
best of luck to you!
