Freshman Year?

Hi! I was wondering what I need to focus on the most in 9th grade. Do I need to worry much? Does freshman year really count? Also, how many clubs do you recommend I take?

Nope, nope and like one or two.

It’s freshman year, take some time and familiar yourself with the school, the people and find your interests. Just do your best and keep your grades up :).

No, yes, and just explore

Don’t over-analyze things but freshman year still matters, it’s better to have a great freshman year and keep doors open, than to blow it off and see some doors close. (doors being colleges). Freshman yr isn’t the most important, but not doing your personal best may effect your class rank, gpa, or other things. So just do your work, and don’t stress yourself

Freshman year is also a time to explore what you want as far as clubs are concerned, peek at what’s interesting, and see if it sticks

Stay focused on your classes. I regret not taking my classes seriously and it’s affected my GPA.

Not really. But it depends on your goals, the circumstances, and who your role models are, if you have any.

Yes, get an experienced senior or an alumni works better–in or near the top 10 to help you if you’re ambitious and want to know how everything works in the end. *Try to not be intimidated ;)

More than 1. Not saying overload, but you’ll be missing out on a lot if you just stick to 1. Only doing Mathletes, I could’ve done a lot better had I expanded my horizons earlier.

Ok, thanks! If I take four clubs, would that be too many?

^ I wouldn’t go for that much personally, you have four years to pick and choose.

No.

Yes, or it wouldn’t be part of high school. It counts for class rank and cumulative GPA, and the classes you take freshman year can sometimes determine what you’re able to take in future years.

However many you want, but joining clubs isn’t impressive in itself. I’d recommend just joining ones you would have joined anyway.

freshman year is important! try to get all A’s if you can(1 B is ok too, but then you have to be more careful the rest of HS).
do clubs that you enjoy. there isn’t a fixed # of clubs you need.

Try to get all A’s if possible but otherwise don’t worry too much! Join as many clubs as you want!

Staying off CC. Hell, you need to focus on that most of high school.
