Freshman Year

"padfoot my grandmother has had that for twenty years, so im not sure it will go away in 5 years."

Shhhhhhhh! Positive thinking! No psychosomatic illness for me, thank you.

It's not the waiting for the Newton bus that sucks so much it's the extra time you have to plan ahead to get to main campus. Unless there's a huge snowstorm, you won't be left in the cold for longer than 5-10 minutes.

Also, in response to what CG originally posted, academics tend to be much easier freshman year. That's not to say that freshman year is a cakewalk by any means, but as a current sophomore, I can say that I am certainly spending many more hours in the Library this year. I am a management student, so freshman year, I took mostly core courses. Now that I am into the management curriculum, classes are MUCH more demanding (and interesting as well). I have noticed the same trend with my premed friends...while we would do something every Friday and Saturday (or so it seemed) last year, they are out about once a month this year.

Maybe I'm biased because I love BC so much, but I absolutely feel like I have learned a ton of pertinent material this year and have had to work hard in doing so.

Padfoot, I think you are guaranteed Upper Campus if you request both Upper and the last Freshman orientation, because the last orientation is the week before school starts. Before the last orientation starts, you get your room assignment. I think the only way to get on Newton while on the last orientationn is if you request it. I couldn't see them loading a bunch of students onto a bus and taking them to campus from Newton. But you must live outside of New England to be able to attend the last orientation. I know all this because my brother is currently a freshman there. And my parents and i moved him in right before orientation. I am in 8h grade and I also have a brother whose a senior there. if you have any further questions, send me a message. I think i have a pretty good knowledge of the school.

Actually you're wrong. There are plenty people on my floor that attended the last orientation session and obviously got placed in Newton. There is no guarantee for housing on Upper unless you're in the honors program or on a specialized floor.

Seriously ndhopeful2012 - 8u in 8th grade? I think it's cool that you are offering your opinion and all on BC and have some knowledge with your brother & sister here - but I don't think may seniors are looking for info from an 8th grader. Forget ND = change your handle to BChopeful2012 lol.
