<p>I have heard that freshman at BC (especially guys) do not get the chance to party very much? Is this true? Does it make for a lame first year?</p>
<p>Also, how big are the football, basketball, and hockey games at BC?</p>
<p>Griff, my daughter just completed her 2nd year at BC. She spent her Freshman year over at Newton, second year at Edmunds and LOVED it! She was not a party girl per se (surprisingly, since I graduated from Chico State?!) and lived on the “healthy living” floor at Edmunds this past year. There were still a fair amount of parties going on. Unless you are attending BYU, one of the military academys, etc., most colleges have their share of students that like to party and find a place to do so. Keep in mind that like many colleges, BC does not allow under-age alcohol consumption in the dorms, but it is still going on! </p>
<p>BC has a very spirited sports following, particularly Football and Ice Hockey. They are the NCAA national champions in Ice Hockey this year! The athletic venues for both are really nice.</p>
<p>I was a freshman guy this past year and I have to say that it’s true what you heard but it isn’t downright terrible. There are a few parties you can get into on the weekends if you know the right people or know girls that know the right people. The chances of a guy getting into a party without the help of upperclassmen or freshman girls are slim to none. I think as long as you get involved with clubs and activities early on in the year, and through that get to meet upperclassmen, you will have plenty to do on the weekend.</p>
<p>Also, to answer your other question, football games are huge. I’d never experienced anything like it before coming to BC. Of course it’s nothing like a huge state school or anything but everyone is very spirited and excited. Basketball and hockey are a little less-attended but they still have large followings and when we play other popular and good teams the games can get crazy too.</p>
<p>I wouldn’t worry about freshman year though, it will suck sometimes but if you can get through I’ve only heard that things drastically improve with each year at the school. I’ll just have to see this year as a soph…</p>

<p>There is plenty of partying going on at BC. If you’re a freshmen, you mostly party with other freshmen in the dorms, but if you know upperclassmen you should be able to find parties with them. Freshmen guys have it harder than girls (for obvious reasons), but there’s usually enough going on within freshmen areas to keep you entertained. </p>
<p>Freshmen year is definitely not lame, especially if you get involved in clubs and activities that allow you to meet alot of upperclassmen. Just be sociable, and everything will be fine/you’ll have fun. </p>

<p>It doesn’t make freshman year lame at all. If you can get through it socially, then you can get through anything. The parties will be there, but they will just be harder to get into and find than other bigger schools. Besides, there is SO MUCH MORE to a college experience than just partying that you actually get a taste of once you are off on your own like independence, meeting important and other intelligent people, finding out what you love to do, being active, and just exploring the city with your friends…</p>
<p>Don’t get me wrong, I love going out, drinking, and meeting people and you can definitely do that here but BC has so much more to offer and it’d be foolish to focus solely on that.</p>
