quad is much better than both

hill is closer to engineering / david rittenhouse labs, where there will be math, science, and compsci classes

also hill is generally more social than kings court

Go to Hill House. My sister had a blast there.

Thank you all, but jamescchen, can you tell me more specifically?

why limit yourself to those 2? Hill looks like a dungeon, has no air conditioning, has really small rooms and terrible bathrooms. Can’t speak for King’s Court but it at least looks nice (been there for dining).

quad is over-hyped; the bathroom situation is terrible.

I find stouffer rather agreeable and highrises are great. Just my 2 cents.

^ if you’ve only been to the dining hall, you haven’t actually been in kc (the dining hall is in the english house side)

Go for high risees… will make sophomore year housing so much easier (in house residents get first pick and everyone wants the high rises).

Do NOT go for the high rises. Definitely not the social situation you want for your freshman year. And why everyone wants to live in the high rises as upperclassmen I will never know…I can’t wait to get out.

^^ definitely makes sense. Because if you don’t live with your friends, you can’t have any.

I mean, why sacrifice all the fun of living on a hall with your friends for…not much benefit? A kitchen? You’re required to have a meal plan anyway, might as well take advantage of the convenience.

it is very enjoyable to avoid walking outside in inclement weather when going to eat

I love living in a high rise and don’t consider myself nor my friends anti-social at all. (I’m a freshman). The majority of my friends here are ridiculously happy that they chose to live in a high rise (we are all freshman).

I live in the quad this year and I’m a computer science major…honestly, Hill is a perfectly good dorm. I love the quad and highly suggest it but if you want to be closer to your classes Hill is the way to go. There were so many days in the winter I wished I only had to cross the street to get to Levine Hall for my classes, but no luck…

In terms of ranking dorms for the housing application my daughter has gotten as far as: 1. Quad
2. Hill
3. High rises

Within the quad and high rises how would you rank the choices?

To the OP and above, why dont you let your son/daughter figure it out by themselves with what they really want? I cant believe parents here are actually looking up dorm choices, its bad enough that you have already influenced their college choices. Let them be free, their adults now I think they can manage.

They’re adults now, but parents can still be concerned.

What I love about Penn’s residential system is that there’s no right answer about where to live- each college house has a unique flavor and it really depends on the individual.

Hill- warm, cozy and communal
Gregory- very communal and cultural
Du Bois- very communal
Quad- fun, for very outgoing, social people - remember that this is where Spring Fling takes place (not that people in the high rises don’t fling as well - I’ll be getting back to fling in just a few minutes, and I live in the high-rises)
High-rises- people who want to have fun, but who are generally pretty serious and independent.
Kings Court- Huntsman kids… I don’t honestly know that much about Kings Court, but the kids I know who live there seem pretty mellow.

i wish i read this before i submitted my housing ): I put kings court over high rises because i thought it would be a little more social sigh

for the application, does it make a difference to put the same quad house multiple times with a different room type?
I’m applying for Health and Society in Fisher, and then my choices were going to be Fisher, Ware, and Riepe, all doubles. If I want to be in the quad as opposed to another selection, should I also select the quad house triples/singles? Or do I need to put other houses?
