Freshmen- how big are your classes so far, that you know of?

I found out how many people are in 2 of my classes, going into my college account site and looking at our class pages...

I have one music class with 8 people, and my freshman writing class with 14. That's all I know so far. The music theory one I'm pre-registered for has 15, but I'm taking a placement test and shouldn't have to actually take that class.

I have a lecture (chemistry) that is 1000 students but all my other classes are capped at 25.

1000!!??- where are you going to school that has classes that big???

1000 holy cow,ive heard of classes of 400,with the room for 800,but a 1000 holy crap!

Same, I’ve heard of 300-400 easily at large public universities, but 1000, you’d need a large music performance hall for that!

Minor correction, the Chemistry lecture as of now has 819 students enrolled but our labs are broken up into smaller groups. My chem lab has 18 students in it. My university has a 1000 seat lecture hall.

intro to cs lecture has 354, discussion has 70
freshman writing has 15
The Human Landscape GenEd lecture has 167, discussion has 24
calc 2 lecture has 30, discussion has 30
“Know your food” GenEd 1credit seminar has 18

Anywhere from 5-30 or so. My biggest last year was 40 and my smallest was 6.

My math and science freshman classes are the usual lecture style with 100-200 people.

Meh…

What school has a 1000 student class? The only possibilities that pop up in my head are UCLA, Ohio State, and maybe ASU.

Astronomy lecture: 185
Astronomy lab: 35
French: 25
Philosophy class: 360
Philosophy discussion: 30
Medieval studies lecture: 110
Medieval studies discussion: 28

My largest class is my intro to psych class, which can hold up to 370 people. All the rest are 20-100 ish.

Holy **** @Plut0nium…1000??! that’s unheard of in my baook…damn…

my biggest class has 120 people in it. My smallest has around 25-30.

My Econ class had 400-450, chem has 250, all the others varied from 20 to 50.

Colleges are always bragging about small class size, but I love large lectures. Also keep in mind in large lectures on most days 25%-50% arent there (unless theres attendance of some sort).

Interestingly, my econ teacher of 450 took questions all lecture, and knew a lot of people by name

My biggest class is 30 people, smallest is 12.

Small liberal arts college. :)

Biggest is 48 people

I had like 500ish in my biggest class. I much, much prefer it. I hate small classes and would never go to an LAC. I like the anonymity.

French 309: Capped 25; Currently 15
Concert Band: Capped 100; Currently 13 (smh)
Stat 110: Capped 200; Currently 200
Theatre 201: Capped 35; Currently 28
Theatre 270: Capped 20; Currently 14
University 101: Capped 25; Currently 25

So even though I’m going to a large state university (that’s the flagship school and has their largest incoming freshman class ever and is so big that they weren’t even able to take a single person off of the waiting list), I essentially only have one “large” class.

That being said… The largest class I ever had in high school was 21 and I had many classes in high school with 5-8 students in them. So really only my French and Theatre 270 class will seem normal to me. Everything else will be big. And I suppose my band class will seem normal. hahahaha. I thought only my high school would have a band with that few people… but apparently not. XD

Writing: 21, but the cap keeps going up for some reason…
Algebra: 40
Spanish: Capacity is 28, but only 18 seats are filled right now
History: 70, my biggest class
Sociology: 38, but apparently one more person is added, I have no idea how that will work out…

Yep, mine too. Some of these huge classes on here are scaring me…I like my small classes!

Chemistry lecture: 18 (honors course)
Chem lab: 20
Calc II: 28
Music in General Culture: 20
Spanish 300: 9

No idea how they’re all so small, it’s a large state school…
