We are getting ready to send our D off to Wellesley for her Freshmen year with all of the mixed emotions that go along with your oldest leave for college!

We are fairly local to Wellesley (Live in MA) and are wondering about move in day, we know they have events for parents, we also see that families are indicated but we are wondering about the family part. Our D's younger siblings (Ages 16, 12, 8) are eager to go (esp. the 16 year old)...has anyone had any experience with this, are younger siblings welcome and/or common?

Thanks for any input on this or any other move in advice you have concerning Wellesley.

What I remember doing that day was moving my stuff in the room, meeting my roommate, and then making a last minute run to Target with my family. (Most of the unpacking happened later). I could certainly see siblings being helpful with #1 and #3.

I never asked my parents what happened during parent orientation, but I don’t think family orientation would be very interesting for siblings. Orientation kept me very busy all day, so it really is a “good bye” right before orientation begins.

In short, I think the siblings should come with the understanding that they might be entertaining themselves. (Psst the campus is excellent for exploring).

I suggest investing in a small hand truck for move in day. The dorms don’t have a/c, so you might find it helpful to bring a fan (if it stays with your D or not).
