Friendly, politically-active LACs in small towns? THANKS!

Any LACs that have a good mix of liberals and conservatives? Reed maybe? or Lewis and Clark? Oregon is supposed to have very liberal liberals, and very conservative conservatives, so I'm not sure a moderate like me would fit in.

Portland has over 500,000 residents, and two million in the metro area; it's the 30th largest U.S. city. I can't imagine that a moderate would have trouble fitting in at either school.

Reed and Lewis & Clark are both quite liberal. I don't think a moderate would have trouble fitting in but you would definitely be in the minority. Allegheny, mentioned in post #40 is very moderate politically with a nice blend of liberal, moderate and conservative students.

I loved the book Colleges that Change Lives and it represents a collection of small personal schools that sometimes go under the radar screen. Not everyone likes the book especially people competitive or especially prestige, but since I consider those two traits character defects, I ignore it. GREAT BOOK!!

I concur with Macalester, Lawrence, St. Mary's College of Maryland (not religous state honor college), also recommend Hamilton, Mt. Holyoke, UVM (although bigger than you want -super friendly and politically active), maybe, if like Phili, Muhlenberg, Ursinus really friendly but not as politically active as others, great academics.

I don't know how you are getting into Haverford with 3.7 and top 10%, that seems like a reach unless your a "hooked" applicant
