Frist Campus Center

So I'd like to hear from Princeton student and alums on their thoughts about the Frist Campus Center. I feel like this is one of Princeton's advantages over its peers--a student center where kids from all colleges and dorms can come eat, shop at the convenience store, attend events, etc.

Questions include... How often does the typical student go by Frist? Eat there? Hang out there? Or do most people go just when they have something specific to do...mail a package or get help with a computer problem? Are there movie nights or series? What else is the theater used for? Do you think it really adds to a sense of community?

As an aside, I have to admit D and I were excited when we found out it was the building pictured in "House", as we love that series.

I realize my daughter should be asking these questions herself but she is really not into CC and tells me to just forward threads or posts of interest.

I’m there three or four times a day for study groups, food, and a class. Also, Pton has “late meal” (part of the meal plan) so twice a day Frist is packed with students

Frist is pretty centrally located-- I used to pass through at least 1-2 times per day. Freshman and Sophomore year when I lived in wilson I definitely spent more time there. I think I got late meal every night of freshman year. Lots of people like to study on the third floor and in cafe viv. I don’t know how much time people spend hanging out there other than eating, but it is a very central location and you see lots of people. It’s really nice to have in the center of campus. It’s also open pretty late, esp on the weekends. Its a common place to head when you have to pass it heading back from the street.

Thanks for the replies. I know most Princetonians probably don’t think it’s a big deal, but not all schools have a multi-use campus center like Frist. How about the Campus Club? Wasn’t that new this year since it was an Eating Club donated to the school with the purpose of becoming a social venue open to all? Do a lot of freshmen and sophomores hang out there? What is it like now?

@Wildwood: Most of the time, Campus Club is pretty empty, with just a few people studying. However, any recognized student group is allowed to rent out spaces in and around Campus Club for special events. The University often hosts its own events there too. The people who go to larger events at Campus Club are generally freshmen, independents, grad students, and drunks looking for free food.
