Hello,

I'm wondering about the chances of going from a Cal State to a UC for a junior year transfer or for Graduate school. I've heard that UCs place Cal States last in line when accepting transfers. I want to pursue a career in software engineering and think UC Berkeley is the best school to get this kind of education. I know there is a wide margin between Cal State Fullerton (My intended university) and UC Berkeley, but what is the possibility?

I plan on going to Cal State Fullerton for a Computer Science major, due to it's close location and my financial situation. I've been barred on my opportunities from my economic circumstances and felt best if I stayed close to home, since I don't have a job as of yet. In terms of academics, my grades aren't too strong and my SAT average. I believe I have the potential but too reluctant in taking AP classes and truly challenging myself. I have an average GPA of roughly 3.3 and an SAT score of about 1550. I regret many of the decisions I've made in high school as my teachers consistently tell me how I should be making the most of my opportunities. In contrast to high school, I will immerse myself in activities and clubs. I feel as though I won't be restrained when I'm in college and I'd truly take the roads I want to take, with my own hands on my own feet.

Before I deviate too far from my initial question, what are the odds of going from Cal State Fullerton to UC Berkeley? I know the odds are very slim, but can someone elaborate a bit further? I admit that I generally don't know too much of either schools and must decide on Cal State Fullerton due to finances (I didn't want to take loans that would further plunge me). I'd appreciate some concise info of both schools and any recommendations on what I can do to make the most of my desired major. All information is greatly appreciated.

I was accepted into

San Jose State

I had my app withdrawn from Cal Poly Pomona, which I heard was a good school for me, since my SAT scores we're sent wrong.

I only applied to 4 universities.
