From Civil Engineering Grad School to Finance?

I'm currently a grad student in civil engineering. I've made a few mistakes along the way in selecting a career path, but I did graduate from an undergrad b-school.

Is there any way for me to get into either consulting or back-office finance (I know they are completely different)? If so, how should I explain to recruiters why I want to go into consulting/finance?

Obviously, I'd drop out right away if I had a job offer in hand. But if not, should I even bother finishing my degree?

I wouldnt worry about what degree you have, especially if you have great grades and stuff. I know of people who work for Merrill Lynch that have English degrees from Harvard. They just want really smart people and then they will teach you the things they want you to know.

Thanks for the response. How should I respond when interviewers ask me why I decided to pursue the unrelated degree? Unfortunately, I don’t even think I can make it to the interview stage with so many finance majors fighting for a spot.
