I've been accepted to both Johns Hopkins and UC Davis. Right now, I'm looking to go to Davis, save money for grad, and apply to a top-tier med school. I'll be looking at Harvard, JHU, or Stanford for med school. Would I have a better shot at these schools if I went to JHU instead of Davis. What if I went to Davis, did oustanding, or went to JHU, did average? Would I have a better shot at those top med schools?

Does anyone know of a website with these statistics?

Davis and outstanding is better than avg at JHU. My friend to went to an HYP paid tons of money and later went to med school in Illinois. In hindsight, she would have preferred to take the free ride that UofI undergrad offered her and then went to H or Y for med school with the money saved...

All that matters is your GPA, MCAT, ECs...undergrad prestige plays very little role unless your interviewer happens to went to your school and show a little favor.

I guess I should go to Davis then, save money, and return to a prestigious medical school. Do you think I have a better shot at applying to JHU med school because I was accepted to their undergrad? I still need more responses to make the right decision, one that will shape my future academic career for the better.

JHU med won't care if you were offered JHU undergrad. Frankly, they want top applicants and most probably would have qualified for admissions to their undergrad. That won't be a special "in".

Choose the undergrad where you feel you'll excel academically and socially. This combination is probably the biggest factor in improving your chances at preparing yourself as a strong med school applicant in a few years.
