From Jail to USNA Honors Pol. Science Program?

Hello!

I hope the message subject caught your attention. My name is Anthony Carbonaro. I am a prospect for admissions for class of 2020.

I am 19 years old. Would be going into my third year of college, possibly at the USNA. But instead I had a atrocious life changing event which seems to hang my dreams by a string in front of my face.

I was a student at University of Michigan-Dearborn when my girlfriend suggested I see some friends from Eastern Michigan University; At the time she was attending EMU. I accidentally loss consciousness because I underestimated the power of alcohol. Long story short, I wondered into 2 homes and a car. I was charged with 3 felonies. I spent 7 months in a county jail and am now on probation. Luckily, I am under a program called HYTA:

<a href="http://www.hilfandhilf.com/blog/Holmes-Youthful-Trainee-Act-HYTA_AE23.html">http://www.hilfandhilf.com/blog/Holmes-Youthful-Trainee-Act-HYTA_AE23.html</a>.</p>

This program will allow me to keep a clean public record. This was a serious flaw to my application, but I learned a lot from my time in jail. I spent much time meditating, reading books, self reflecting. I started to question simple questions. I ultimately became interested in pursuing a path in political science. I would like to involve myself in politics in the country of Romania. The United States Naval Academy has been my dream since 8th grade. I have worked very hard in becoming a true leader.

At 11 months old, I was adopted from a Romanian orphanage by the greatest parents a child could ask for. I still don't know my biological parents, nor do I care to know them. My parents raised me with discipline and great morals. As a child I participated in countless seasons of baseball and soccer. Middle school, I participated in cross country, track, and wrestling. I became captain for 3 seasons. High school, I participated in 16 varsity seasons of sports, co/captain of 5 sports. Participated in a broad range of music programs. 4 years of marching band, concert band, and managing a music studio. 3 years symphonic band and jazz band. I am a percussionist. Held 3 leadership positions, almost won position for drum major. Executive Board Treasurer student council. Raised 20k my senior year for prom. Interact club-300 hrs.

For my church, I am an alter server, eucharistic minister, and lecturer. I also help with landscape and other work. 500+ hours.

Michigan-Dearborn. Computer Science Major. I led a team of 15 people in designing the body and ergonomics for a annually project of designing and racing a formula race car. Very Fun! I was a representative for student council.

Then... on Friday the 13th of September 2013, between 3 and 5 am(devils hour), I supposably invaded multiple homes and a car, stealing up to $1000 in property. I was charged with three felonies and spent 7 months in a county jail. Man! did I learn a lot! It was a life changing time, very rewarding if you can believe that! But this tragedy happened at a very important part of the application process. I would have been my 3rd attempt. . A couple months after my arrest, on Christmas, while in my jail cell, I received my Congressional Nomination by MI Rep. John Dingell. A very respected politician. What a feeling I had. Very happy, but Very mad. I didn't know what to do. I was stuck...

Now after being out of jail, I am still determined to become a midshipman. I am currently a student at my local community college taking an intro to international relations and a intro to sociology class. I am working 25 hours a week making a lot of money bar backing and bussing tables at a five star italian restaurant. I was glad to find a job with such great tips. I am not a fan of hourly paid jobs.

The downfall to my admissions each year is my academic performance. I received a 2.8 GPA and ACT score of 23 in high school. Relatively low compared to 2017 class portrait averages. I did however take 4 advance placement classes and received college credit in one class, US Gov. I really did enjoy that class. I focused my time of extra curricular activities, knowing it would help shape me into a well rounded individual.

But now, I need to take the SAT, Raise my crappy college gpa, and other things in order to receive an appointment.

I also outsource web development. I have been interested creating great networks of people who can produce amazing business results. I deal with lead generation, which targets people who are interested in my service of web development. I dead with sales, communication is key to sales, a trust is a must. I deal with program management and programers. I produce ten times more protect than money invested, and my turnout rate is fairly fast.

I am a more interested in the naval academy than most of the midshipman attending. My dream is fading quickly. I want nothing more than becoming a midshipman. My ultimate dream is to become a pilot. After the Navy, I would like to live in Romania, my home country. Because it is now a Democracy, remember Nicolae Ceaușescu's Communism? I am a byproduct of his no abortion law, so I can't dislike him to bad. Just curious, but are there any National Socialists midshipman? Anyway, I want to help Romania along its journey to Democracy and whatever lays beyond. Maybe marshal law. The US seems to be heading toward a police state. I think we will have an interesting winter.

Also, I will be looking for a recruitment from the hockey team. I am a fairly good hockey player with much potential.

This is a rough story of my journey. I am looking for any type of input.
Thanks!

JMPO…but it is time for you to find a different dream.

I’m not going into admission, but that attitude that you want to be at USNA more than the mids you don’t even know is extremely arrogant and will get you nowhere. Other than that, good luck. It can’t hurt to apply.

Might as well apply if you have nomination

Who would give him a nomination unless he WAS applying?

You should apply, the worst that can happen is how you’ll feel if you didn’t.
