What is your opinion on Notre Dame? Is it better than Cal, Uchic or not? I know many of my friends from my youth group would like to choose ND over schools like Harvard and Yale. But honestly, should I take a second look at it?

Go To Cal.............

or to UChicago.

yes, go visit and look into the program of each school that you're interested in. that's the most important

Depends on what you want out of school...Notre Dame has a very different "feel" than Harvard, etc

So what do you want?

For instance Notre Dame is VERY sports focused...

UChicago is Big City

Harvard is not Big City

You need to look at many factors besides name-

majors, weather, location, big small, style, greek life, sports, etc

give us a clue as to your wants in a school

Well, the environment there appeals to me (debating between ND an Dartmouth at the moment) and I think it is an excellent school academically. Perhaps not as good in academics as Princeton or Yale, but still, I do not think it deserves some of the flak it gets on CC. I would choose it in an instant over Harvard or UChicago (even faster over Cal), but not over a school like Princeton. But that is a personal decision and I think a lot of it has to do with what the environment offers. ND may not be ranked as highly as Harvard or thought of as well as Cal on CC- but it certainly offers smaller classes and a more supportive environment, which can only add to one's education IMO. When schools are reasonaby close in academic quality, it is compatibility factors that will really determine the quality of eduction one receives.
