From UF undergrad to Johns Hopkins Med School...

I am currently a senior in high school and I know for a fact that I want to go to medical school and become a great doctor. Biology and just sciences in general have always been my passion. I have no doubt in my mind that I want to become a doctor to use my passion to help others. With this said, I am about to make a very big decision: picking my college.

UF for me offers me the best option in terms of undergraduate experience. Going to UF would imply 100% paid tuition (since I am a florida resident with high GPA and SAT scores), great research facilities, starting as a sophmore, close to Miami where I already have contacts that work at medical facilities where I can intern etc. This school seems perfect for me, espcially since I do not want to go to medical school with a HUGE loan. My question is, however, is UF a good enough school to get me into Johns Hopkins, WASHU, Yale Med School?? I have considered applying to these schools for undergrad and aside from the money issue, I also heard that these schools do not like to take undergraduate students from their own school into their school of medicine. Is UF or maybe UNC my best option or am I better off going to a school like WASHU, Emory, Johns Hopkins itself to get into the top medical schools??
Do medical schools really look at what school you come from??
Some advice please!

Then go there - end of story…

Technically, yes, but it isn’t a large factor by any stretch of the imagination. Besides, admission to any med school is a crapshoot as it is, let alone the so-called “top” medical schools.

I went to ASU and did very well at many of the top places because merit trumps name every day of the week. Go where you are happy, you will ultimately perform better.
