FSU First Year Abroad

I'm applying for the first year abroad program at FSU for the study center in London. The application is fairly easy and does not require any essays or whatever. It's all basic information. So I am wondering. Is it at all competitive to get into the London program?

My daughter is also considering applying for the FSU First Year Abroad Program (FYA) in London. We spent time speaking to the Director and former FYA students at the FSU Preview and we are really impressed by this unique opportunity. I did not get the impression that the program was set up as a competitive program, but you may want to call the International Programs Office to be certain of that. Additionally, there is a specific orientation date for FYA students, so you may want to check into that as well.

I personally would stay in Tallahassee your first year and truly enjoy the freshman experience. You will have 3+ more years to travel abroad.

Thanks movingmaniac! Good input How do I get in touch with the director?

Have you already been accepted and decided to attend FSU? Are you an out-of-state student? If so, I assume you are aware of the out-of-state tuition waiver benefits associated with successful completion of the FYA program.

Good Luck and keep us posted on your decision.

That is the amazing thing about first year abroad, for an out of state student. If you like FSU and are planning on studying abroad while you are in college, why not do it your first year and benefit from the in state tuition for the rest of your college career?

Does anyone know how long it usually takes to respond once the first year abroad application is sent in?

Study Abroad is not a competitive entry program. Space is not unlimited per location though so apply early to lock in your spot.

ya thats what I heard about it. I was just wondering though if anyone knows how long it takes to hear if you got accepted or not after the letter is mailed in

I don’t remember exactly but it wasn’t long.

Sounds good thanks for the help
