Hi!
I am from out-of-state (Michigan),and I was just wondering what my chances at scholarships (out of state tuition waver, University Freshman scholarship, presidential scholarship) are.
Stats:
UW GPA 3.89
Weighted (only APs count as extra weight) 4.06
ACT: 33
300+ community service hours
Treasurer for student congress
NHS
Varsity Golf and Tennis 3 years
(many other extracurriculars I can explain further if needed)
GPA is a little low. The middle 50% for Fall 2016 was 3.9-4.3, and that was before they received 6,000 more applicants for Fall 2017. I’m not trying to discourage you, but at this point you might not qualify for the Freshman or Presidential scholarship. Have you taken the SAT? Your ACT is not bad by ANY standards - people study for years to get that score. But even just one more point would greatly help.
Also is that your FSU GPA? They do not use your school GPA; they have their own weighting system. AP/Dual Enrollment/IB: 5.0. Honors: 4.5. Anything else: 4.0.
Another option you may want to consider is the First Year Abroad program. The program covers fall, spring, and summer sessions and runs ~$40K, so it’s a bit steep. However, if you’re thining of studying abroad it may be a good way to get in-state tuition.
