curious which program you are interviewing for?
any idea if no email means you aren’t moving forward? or will they notify one way or another?
@Zelinski611 Thank you! I’m applying for the program at Aberystwyth University in Wales. I’m not sure about the question of whether getting an e-mail / not getting one means you move forward / don’t move forward. My original communication back on February 28 said that they “will be in touch with [me] again regarding [my] application in late March / early April.” So maybe there are a couple of ‘waves’? I would at least assume that you will get a notification soon, one way or the other. Good luck to your daughter!
@Zelinski611 I know that in years past they’ve sent out interview invitation and rejection emails at the same time, so I think that there are a few ‘waves’ of emails. I know someone who got a rejection email from Wales this morning, so the same should apply for this year! Since there’s 9 programs, maybe one email wave a day for the next week or so?
Also @Scholar1917… congratulations!
That is helpful to know. Thank you!
The anxiety of not hearing anything is crippling! Congrats to your daughter!!! Hoping to hear something one way or the other soon
^^ has anyone else heard from any program besides Aberystwyth University in Wales?
No, we are waiting on the University of Sussex Brighton…anyone here apply there and hear anything?
I am waiting to hear back from Queen’s University in Belfast…nothing yet.
Applying to Sussex - heard nothing yet.
I’m waiting on Glasgow… nothing here either.
Interesting how other Institutes haven’t sent out notifications yet. Maybe they’re going alphabetically (making Aber applicants first)?
My daughter at Notre Dame received an email from her scholarship advisor yesterday that Glasgow (my daughter’s selection) has not released yet and is expected next week.
@Zelinski611 Just curious…what is a scholarship advisor?
Notre Dame has a department called CUSE that works with students on applications for international award applications. They identify students who might be candidates and reach out to them to make them aware of opportunities. For the Fulbright Summer program, they reached out to my daughter to suggest she apply, then reviewed her first drafts of her essays. If she makes it to interview, they will work with her on a mock interview first.
@Zelinski611 That is amazing! My teen got no help at all - found the program by researching. That’s impressive that Notre Dame does that!
@Zelinski611 That’s interesting… maybe they are going alphabetically after all. I really hope your daughter gets an interview! Mine’s on Thursday…
Syracuse also has a great scholarship advisory center called the CFSA, which is how I first found out about the Summer Institutes program. They couldn’t have been more helpful reviewing my application and, now, they’re helping me out with mock interviews, which has really helped me a lot.
@Desie1 If it’s any consolation, them getting to this point without a lot of help from their school is incredible and you should be proud of it! I hope they get an interview!!
My daughter got an email VERY early this morning that she has been invited to interview with the University of Sussex Brighton! Keeping you all in our thoughts that you all hear positive news soon!
Mine didn’t get the interview. Oh well. I find it interesting that none of my 3 kids at Ivy’s were ever told about the program and last year no Ivy League students were selected. (Don’t know about other years because I couldn’t find a list.) I’m surprised that the students aren’t told about it and advised like the above posters mentioned they were at Syracuse and Notre Dame.
In any case, GOOD LUCK to all who got the interviews. I hope every one of you is accepted, and has the time of your life!
Anniet781 - I am so glad to say congratulations to your daughter and please tell her good luck on her interview!!!
