My family makes $21,000 a year, and there's only three of us. I was wondering if any school besides Exeter, Andover, and St. Paul would offer me full financial aid.

Btw, I'm applying for 9th grade, if that helps.

pennmy: Groton is another school that has an official policy on free tuition for kids from family’s whose HHI (household income) is below a set threshold ($75k in the case of Groton).

With an HHI of $21k, I’m pretty sure you’d qualify for full aid at many schools. Just look at the average grant and/or % of kids on FA.

Of course, all of this is assuming you are academically admissible.

Note that a scan of their website indicates that Andover does not specifically state that they have a “free tuition” policy for students from families with HHI under a set threshold. They are, however, one of the only schools that is “need blind” with regard to admissions decisions and are known to be VERY generous with FA. I think their average grant is 75% of tuition or something.

As I hinted at in my first post, I wouldn’t restrict your scope to just the “name brand” (and among the most selective/hardest to get into) schools…there are plenty of schools that are generous with FA.

I will second what SevenDad has said. We were VERY surprised at the range of aid offered to our family. The school that advertises a “set threshold” was NOT the school that offered us the most generous package. In fact, the 3 schools that offered us the most generous packages were all schools that are not “known” for generous FA.
