Full Ride at State School vs Prestige of Top Private?? Show me the Money$$$

Prestige of a private? How about prestige of a full ride? Talk about exclusive.

Chardo
Thanks! Agree with you! That way, if son takes Full Ride, then he CAN still get a Master’s at
Carnegie Mellon ! (they even have a Google in Pittsburgh!)

More good news! If he gets into Vanderbilt, then they award $5,000/year to Nat’l Merit Finalists!

rensselaer polytechnic institute gave him a Medal for Best in Math/Science, so he will prob. get IN> Ranked #52 in CS on US News for Master’s~ Will be interesting in March for this adventure!

1 more Full Ride: U of Texas Dallas, but may skip it (due to Travel, Airports)-- but it does have very good CS!

I am really not a fan of Orlando for all the reasons stated above - hot, humid, crowded, traffic, not near the beach, huge campus - but everyone I know who goes to UCF loves it. Truly loves it. All kinds of different majors, all levels of scholarships, some in Greek life, some in theater, some in sports, but they all love it. Maybe they’ve just been in the sun too long?

Orlando is a busy airport, so there are lots of flights, usually cheap, in an out. It is easier for daughter #2 to get to MCO (about an hour from her school) and fly home than it is for my to go pick up daughter #1 from her school 150 miles away as that takes almost 5 hours to drive there and back.

My daughter goes to a different school in Florida, and this Friday I am flying into the dreaded MCO and spending her spring break on her beach! She’s on a spring sports team so can’t travel for spring break, but I can travel and I like the beach, so… I can go to a Red Sox game, to a rocket launch at Cape Canaveral, the beach, 4 of her games and not really go into Orlando at all. Florida isn’t all Orlando.

I think due to airports and travel, we may skip both TX and FL (but a vacation to Siesta Key in the winter would be fun!!) We’re used to the 4 seasons in the Midwest…loving the green grass and mild weather, now.

@Chardo All decisions came in, so soon, will choose 1 final destination. Very pleased with outcome!
