<p>Hello all! This is my first Thread on this awesome forum!</p>
<p>Here is the thing. I am planning to get a bachelor in a Web Development program. I am good at using GIMP and know HTML and CSS languages well. I prefer the coding than the "design" aspect. </p>
<p>The schools near me I am looking forward to go to are
Full Sail, wich offers Web Design & Development,
and the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, wich offers Web Design & Interactive Media.</p>
<p>I have seen many different comments about both, but I would like to "compare and contrast" both of them.</p>

<p>You will not find many fans of either of these institutions here, because they are for-profit institutions. Many for-profit institutions have a reputation for taking a student’s money, leaving them in a lot of debt, and not giving them either transferable academic credits or employable skills. Some for-profit institutions aren’t like that, but most of us don’t know anything about either of these places.</p>
<p>You need to speak directly with employers who hire people who do the job that you want to be able to do, and find out what they think about these two places. Those are the people whose opinions really matter. </p>
<p>You also could try posting this question in the Parents Forum - change the title to something like “Would you hire a web developer from Full Sail or the Art Institute (Florida)?” Some parent with experience in that industry might have good ideas for you. If you post it in the Visual Arts/Film Majors sub-forum I’d suggest changing the title to something like “Bachelors in Web Development near Fort Lauderdale?”. <p>The above poster was very nice… Both of those for profit schools are scum. Seriously go google “full sail scam” and “art institute scam”</p>
<p>These schools make a living off of the desperate and unknowledgeable! The best way to defend yourself? Get informed! </p>
<p>If you really are wanting to go into web development I would suggest looking at local Junior Colleges for two year programs, or even your local Universities for Computer Science.</p>
<p>One of the big problems with training in web design is that most companies today outsource their web design overseas which leads to a more competitive market for the few jobs there are here in the US. Add to this the huge numbers of computer science graduates with four year degrees and a focus on web design and development from the dot com era and you are left with very few jobs. Most of these jobs only go to those with tons of connections, experience, and the willingness to work cheaply. </p>
<p>I personally would look at another field, the golden age of the dot coms is long gone and so are the jobs in this sector.</p>
<p>Check out FAU, FIU, UCF computer science departments. All within about 2 hour drive of Ft. Lauderdale. Several different kinds of degrees. Actual state of FL university system therefore likely much cheaper and plenty of other majors if you change your mind. More of a “real” college experience. Or live at home and go to Broward College. All better choices than Full Sail or Art Institute.</p>

<p>I was hoping for more of a comparison between both of them instead of them vs other schools though. Could you give any hints or advice on what are the important aspects to look for in both schools?</p>
