the closer it gets to the spring semester (my first college semester) the more I think keeping my full time job is going to be a struggle. At this point in my life I will be focused on my studies more than anything else. I will be striving for a 4.0. However I’m thinking it’s going to be a tough transition. Now I am working full time to support myself. Apartment and bills etc. I’m wondering if anybody else is working full time as a full time student? Any similar stories or opinions?
I did it (worked 2 jobs at between 16 & 24 hours each per week… had a 3rd job that I’d sometimes work too during breaks). I survived. Even did well enough that I am now a PhD student at a top uni.
With that said, I absolutely do not recommend it if you can make it work without working full time. It is hard. It is very, very hard. One of the ways I was able to do it is that I had very understanding bosses (so if I really needed a shift/day off for whatever reason, it was usually granted) and at one of the jobs I was able to do homework on my down time. Without these, it would not have been possible.
I also had a partner that took care of the day-to-day stuff like keeping up our apartment. Again, I don’t know that I would have been able to do it without him.
