Funny story (not 'haha' funny, but funny):

My friend applied to Reed College (Top 10 LAC, though it has a low profile) and was accepted. Congrats all around, hugs from the family all that.

The only thing the family didn’t realize was that he applied ED! They thought he was just applying for RD, and they told him they weren’t sure they’d be able to afford it. Reed is extremely expensive, and he comes from a very much working class background.

Needless to say, his parents were more than a little upset!

I don't find that funny.

Meh. He shouldn't have applied ED if he knew he couldn't afford it.

But, sorry to say, that wasn't amusing.

Ya, I dont find that funny. Did your friend know that he was applying ED and wanted to trick his family into letting him go?

I would have applied ED to Reed but I have no money. so I threw my lot in regular.

My understanding is that the ONLY way you can get out of ED for a family with these fianncial circumstance is if the aid package is not high enough. So no need to worry. They can see what the school offers and if they can't afford it choose another school.
