Hello. I just set up my college schedule and i had dual credit from a community college. I got a C in a Chem course, and my overal BCPM gpa was a 3.2. Im really worried now. My adviser said that its going to be really tough now for me to get into med school. So i was wondering, considering I get a 35 or so on the MCAT, could i still get in to a good medical school? at my current rate, what med schools would you recomend me applying to?

1) What year are you in college? I’m assuming you’re just starting, in which case you are fine. Of course one grade will drag your GPA down when you don’t have many courses under your belt.

2) Never assume you will do well on the MCAT (or, later, the USMLEs or shelf exams)

3) All medical schools are “good” - there simply isn’t much variation in quality of education like there is with law schools

Im going to be a freshmen in the fall. My adviser just really worried me. Thanks

Yeah your adviser sounds like he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. One C in a community college course that you took while in high school probably won’t even get a second glance. But why were you taking a college chemistry course while in high school? Thats generally not a great idea.
