hi i had really low grades freshman year.. i don';t want to discuss it: ) i have reasons why they were so low... anyway i did MUCH better soph/jun year and i heard PRINCETON/STANFORD/CMU dont look at freshman year g.p.a.. what other schools don't?

heres the breakdown:
soph:3.83//4.0
Jun:5.0///5.0 ( the max g.p.a you can get )

sats around 2250+ and amazing ec's and rec's

i'm just worried about my grades... ok fien here it goes i'll tell you my freshman year grades:
2.9//3.6 lol so will the cut off of freshman year imcrease my chances?

what other schools don't look at freshman year? how do I explain this to those schools?

3.97? Out of 4.0? Yes that's good. As long as you're taking all honors and plenty of advanced placement courses. As long as your test scores are high and you have decent ECs, you could even have a chance at Harvard.

2HeavenWood: Harvard? Isn't it that Harvard looks on frosh grades?
2SkyWalk: What's your rank? I think I am going to have the same situation as you do, I too got 2.9 for first semester and shall get 3.75 (hopefully) for second. If I would've realized the importance of grades earlier -- could've got 4.0 but epiphany came to me two months ago and it is now too late, I'll have B in one class (God, its Commercial Art -- the hardest class as appeared).

k my uw g.p.a for 10/11 is 3.97 and the weighted is around 4.5 or 4.6... but if you add the first semester of senior year in there it'll go up a lot.

however, it looks kinda wierd on my app cause I have a 2.8 and a 3.6 freshman year and a HUGE upward trend from there... they'll definetely know something is wrong lol.. nobody goes from a 2.8 to a 5.0

my rank is in the top 10 percent... well if my school had rank for 10/11 I would be 1/580 but for 9th grade included my rank will be around top 6-10 percent in the class

Perhaps, rank is a thing that shall make some difficulties in Princeton. Anyways, if you'll get accepted then there's hope for me :)
By the way, upward trend, as I've learned, is a good thing to show too so you might try other U's.
