So what? The OP seems to be exploring several options, and while it sounds like they aren’t keen on going to the big state U, they are nonetheless wanting to understand how to make their application as strong as it can be to maximize their chance of admission, should they not get into the privates they seem more keenly interested. Its the right thing to do.
I understand but if she wants private, where is the assistance to provide her schools that will meet the goal of Davidson or NEU don’t work out.
That’s more critical at this juncture than saying Ga State and UGA. I’ve provided some but I think it would be helpful to OP if others have insights.
Students pursue alternative paths but their desired one should have the main focus.
@collegequestions6 have you looked at Ga College and State? Its a great little instate LAC and has your major interests Majors, Minors & Programs | Georgia College & State University
While the overall city isn’t exciting, the little downtown area by campus is darling. Its a hidden gem, IMO
If op likes Davidson, she may also like URichmond, Bucknell, Franklin and Marshall or Dickinson. Drexel is similar to Northeastern with an emphasis on coops and also in a big city. I recently was in West Philadelphia and was really impressed with all the new buildings on the Drexel campus. It’s adjacent to UPenn so there are a lot of businesses aimed at college students in the area
If there is an interest in pursuing a smaller school with a dance program that may be more affordable, perhaps look at Ursinus College. It is on the list of Colleges That Change Lives and has some unique programs, including pre-law options.
Private schools with dance programs you might want to investigate which aren’t super high reaches:
Bucknell
Vassar
Mt Holyoke
Tulane
University of Richmond
Butler
Case Western
Washington University St Louis (definite reach)
Sadly, the admit rate for Vassar for women is 16% compared to 26% for men based on the 22-23 CDS so pretty reachy for anyone.
Several of these schools are high reaches, IMO
That’s fair - they’re better than the single digits on my list, but it’s certainly true that many of these are not targets.
And I think Tulane’s acceptance rate was 10 or 11% last year. Makes that a high reach, IMO.
I think Tulane’s rate is higher than reality. I think if applicant demonstrates strong interest one’s chances go up significantly - especially one EDs - ED rate is more like 30%
Well sure, all colleges ED admission rates are higher than RD!
Tulane ED used to be ~30%, but was roughly 68% last year. Official application numbers dropped significantly last year, as they have been forced to stop counting partial and incomplete applications as “applications” in their totals. Accordingly, the acceptance rate skyrocketed, even though they aren’t accepting any more kids than before.
