Assuming Gabelli freshman put on presentations and whatnot?
How much of a business wardrobe do freshman girls need to bring? Would one or two outfits suffice? Is it casual or more business suit (skirt/blazer/blouse/slacks)? Thanks.

You will likely be more comfortable with a business suit and just a couple things that will help you mix and match. With a blazer, you can make an “instant business” look with slacks/skirt, so that would be a good idea, too.
If you join one of the business organizations, those require business attire at their meetings, but recycling the same outfits/looks is perfectly fine.
I think Freshmen Gabelli students are doing the core requirements. They dont get into the business curriculum and presentations until later…I dont know for certain, but anecdotally that is what happens.
Fordham students dress all over the place…from preppy to tshirts and shorts. My advice is bring warm weather clothes in September. SHIP the heavy stuff later, and take cues from what she tells you. We always brought the winter clothes in January (another suitcase on the plane for her).
Girls and guys are different. Girls need more change of clothes. Guys can wear the same jeans for several days and often do. Every person is different on how neat and tidy they are and how often they want to do laundry.
But as you likely know, college kids across the country are notorious slobs…so when you visit just bring blinders and ear plugs.
Thanks for the input. Parents of older kids at another business school D was looking at advised bringing some business attire for freshman including closed toe low heeled shoes. Even the engineering kids there utilized business attire as freshman. I figured it was standard but wasn’t sure.
Gabelli freshman women do need presentation clothes – they do make a group presention for one class. Everyone wears a suit. Business attire is also mandatory for meetings of business organizations such as Smart Women Securities. My Gabelli daughter needed business wear for those, this year, and also for 2 different business conferences she attended and for a trip to Wall Street. Your daughter may not need to show up with it, but she will need it over the course of the year. You’re smart to be thinking of this now, as we had no knowledge of this, so our daughter had to scramble to come up with what she needed.
Also, non-Gabelli daughter tells me that Gabelli women do “dress” more than the Arts and Sciences students, generally.
Pineview, if your daughter would care to email or have a phone call with a current Gabelli student, PM me, as I am sure my daughter would be happy to chat with her.
@KvotheFan thanks for the information and for the kind offer-I’ll let my daughter know she has someone she can reach out to with questions if needed.
I’ll be sure to have her show up with some business basics. Add that to the summer shopping list. She just sent in her deposit yesterday (wasn’t 100% sure and was still wavering up to this point) so I just spent some $ online at the bookstore for the F wear.
Good luck to your daughter pineview!
@LeftyLou thank you! Best of luck to your daughter and I hope you’ll stop back once in a while to lend advice to the new Fordham folks!
