I graduated last June from a top 25 public research university with Bachelor's degrees in Biomedical Sciences in Chemistry. My grades were less than stellar, I could give a myriad of reasons for this, but they would all just be excuses for me being young and dumb. During undergrad I wasn't sure what I wanted to do after graduation. My mind drifted from law school to med school and every where in between. In the middle of my senior I started a research project to complete a requirement for one of my degrees. I fell in love with research during this time and decided grad school is where I wanted to be. Since graduation I've been doing genetics research at a top hospital. I signed a contract and will be working here for at least the next 2 years. During this time, I will be pursuing a biostatistics degree part-time. Is there anything else I can be doing in the mean time? I want to eventually get my doctorate in either genetics/genomics or cancer biology. Sorry for the long post!

Sounds like you have enough on your plate - focus on your work and your studies to do the best you possibly can over the next year, and start thinking about grad school apps for fall 2014 admissions.
