How do gamers (DOTA, League, WoW etc) find space at UCSD to game in such a way as to not disturb room mates or suite mates? Do people bring their gaming systems to school? Are there places in the computer science department with pods of high powered workstations connected to a high speed LAN and gigabit internet connections that can be pressed into the service of gaming??? (A guy can dream right?) I’m accepted into Revelle fall 2015.
A lot of my suitemates play using wired connections in the suite area, which in the Fleet dorms in Revelle is usually big enough for a lot of people. Several kids I’ve met do have desktops, but for the most part people play on laptops. The wifi is passable. I don’t think the San Diego Supercomputer Center is intended for League, and I think playing it on the wifi in Geisel or Galbraith would be slow for you and annoying for others.
I know that Revelle has at least one professional Leaguer, but this isn’t really my area. Hopefully someone with a little more info comments
@groverrohan Well that’s hopeful in any event. Thank you!
No problem! You should also look into the student organization Triton Gaming. A Google search should find you their name
