Has anyone applied to college (or applied to additional colleges if not satisfied with original outcome) during a gap year between high school and college? I'm thinking this might be a good back-of-pocket plan because a student could add AP scores from senior year to their applications. The only problem I can foresee would be the logistics of getting recommendations from former high school teachers. Would it be an enormous hassle to apply for undergrad. from abroad?

A lot of typical study abroad programs do require you to be in college. You may have to search quite a bit to find a program that’s really meant for gap year.

Just get all your affairs in order before your graduate. You’ll just have their evaluations dropped off (by your parents, maybe?) and the teachers will mail them in the fall.

Don’t take gap year just to get the AP scores in- colleges really don’t care that much.
