<p>D is interested in taking a gap year and loves the City Year program. Unfortunately, she cannot make the required 10 mo commitment. Any suggestion for similar programs? </p>

<p>You might look into American Friends Service Committee and Unitarian Universalist Service Committee. They organize a variety of social justice projects, both domestically and internationally. And there may be a range of NGOs that would take on a volunteer if she has a special area of interest. (Most of these will require that she be 18 however, for liability reasons I think).</p>
