If i dont get accepted to the college i want, i’m not going to any other college.
i’ll wait one full year, until reapplying again.
during tha tyear, i’ll do my SATs , ACTs, and do more community service leadership stuff
is that a good idea?

Yes it is not a good idea to do the oppisite of that

take some communtiy college classes...make some money. no need to rush into college.

yeah! be like me!

really??

but..a YEAR after high shcool. with no classes.

Wharton won't like that.

of course wharton wouldn't like it if you sat aroud for a year watching reruns of Beverly Hills. But if you'd do something productive (get a job, do some serious community work, take up some extra courses during the eyar), then you would have someting to write about in the "If you have not been in school since graduation, tell us how did you spend your time." essay

dude just go to community college work your but and try to get at least 90 units

my friend wasnt rejected, but did Americorps anyway.

really? oh but he/she could "defer" admission for one year. there's no guarantee with the gap year that you will get accepted next year

Wouldn't you have to apply as a transfer student if you took community college classes, or could you just take a few and still apply as a freshmen?

"dude just go to community college work your but and try to get at least 90 units"

...90 units? That's equivalent to about three years of community college...

ok ok.
Lets say i got rejected from my top schools (all, lets say). I have backups: U of michigan and Berkeley

so, is it better to (chances wise)
1. Wait 1 YEAR. Dont go to college. Do a LOT of self study. do SATs. Start a business. Work, Many ECs. ETC. Apply to top schools the next year. Go to Community college also, maybe.

Go to the backup school. Get a 3.8 or so. (I prolly wont get 4.0.) TRANSFER from a U of michigan calibar school to Wharton/Ivy. PRolly won't have time to do as much stuff as #1.

umich and berkeley are backups? these are elite universities as well....

i know i know

but, is it even possible to transfer from UMich/berkeley to upennivy?? (I thought it was really hard. Unless it's schools with Same calibar.)

WAIT ONE YEAR....!!

transfer is basically freshman application all over again, with 0.01% the original space offered. i think. :D

well... its better to go to a decent college for one year than go to a community college for a year, unless you ARE going to try to get 90units equivalent of 3 years. but if you can do THAT, why cant you get a 4.0 in UMich or Berk? UMich and Berk are like... not THAT bad. I wouldnt kill myself and feel all depressed every by going there. Transfers have a slightly lower acceptance rate, less than 10% for all the ivies and ivy+, but its not like impossible. i think they take like 90 soemthing out of 1000 something applicants. you can go to the website and read about it, i kind of want to transfer too. but you have to remember, there is a chance that you might not get accepted next year too, especially since when you apply again you have to answer that question that says, "have you previously applied to ____?" but dont take a year off unless you have nowhere to go!

Why can't you get a 4.0 in UMich?
