GaTech Transfer Question

^depend on major. if youre applying competetive major like says on transfer website, then no. but other than that you have a shot. best applicant is not just GPA wise, also a number of credits and how many of those credits goes towards the core credits (usually 60 credits).
(if you took bunch of business major credits and then apply for engineering major, you would simply the last one in the line even if you have the high GPA and number of credits.)

now as i look at those credits, it seems 18 credits per semester which is the max credit hours you can have, but i doubt that you can make it through and even if you made it i dont think you would have high GPA. even so, if you had high GPA, it would be my pleasure, you simply made me surprise, but still you wouldnt be the best applicant. one of my transferring friend who took classes just like yours and by the mid point he withdrew 2 out of his 5 classes
now i dont know you but if youre that smart enough to make it through and have high GPA then you wouldn’t simply be in the southern poly. what im saying is you should take time.
I would recommend taking cal 3 and diff eq also. take as much credit hour that is transferable and satisfies the core requisites. because once you get to tech those same courses are much harder and possibly cost more.
i woundnt worry about linear algebra unless southern poly has special 2 credit course jus like tech

im current transferred student in ece major, if you have any more question then email me ychang360@ gmail com
when it comes to transferring to tech im confident to say i know the best. i can even make you better schedule than you counseler.
btw dont take RETP thats waste of time and money since theres couple unecessary engineering courses.

The registrar’s office doesnt post the transfer credit onto buzzport until right before your FASET orientation. There was a July 1st deadline for immunizations but as long as you have them in before orientation there wont be a hold on your account.

@WiseHeart if you are applying to a more competitive major you will need a 4.0, extracurriculars don’t matter. They only look at grades and since you are not transferring through RETP you are placed at a considerable disadvantage because the spots left after they accept those people are super competitive. Make awesome grades, apply for the major you want, and hope for the best. That’s all you can do, and if you have to wait another semester or two it’s really not that bad. I had a 3.9, and 4.0 math and science and I was waitlisted. 31 hours not including my extra 7 from AP.

anybody interested here in sharing a room or apartment starting fall 2013, please contact me at singk7@mail.broward.edu.

for intl students, we only need to complete page no 2 and 3. Am i wrong???

Sooo I submitted my computer science courses for evaluation more than a month ago … and they still haven’t done anything with them. Anyone have any problems with this long wait time? Should I be doing something about this?

Also, I don’t plan on attending FACET so what would be the steps to talking to an advisor?

The Registrar’s office does credit evaluation for students based on the FASET dates so if your not going to FASET you should expect your credit evaluation to be posted in or around the last FASET on August 16th. You can make an appointment with your adviser on Buzzport

I also submitted transfer credit evaluations for 2 CS classes. However, I have not received an admission decision. My transfer adviser said that Georgia Tech needed the results of these course evaluations before an admission decision could be made. The course evaluation requests have been pending for 41 days now.

Have all other Georgia Tech transfer applicants already received an admission decision? Am I the only person whose application status is apparently in limbo?

@ocitalis, if u applied for Fall 2013, u already would have received a decision. Either accepted or denied or waiting list. Here we all applied for fall 2013. Therefore, we got our admission decision. Have u applied for Fall 2013? One more thing, if your application is not complete, they will not give any decision.

Thank you for the reply. I applied for fall 2013. This is what my buzzport says (Monday July 29, 2013):

Admission Term: Fall 2013
Entering Status: Second Undergraduate
Current Application Status: Pending Course Evaluation
Program: BS in Computer Science
Campus of Study: Georgia Tech-Atlanta *
Field of Study: Computer Science

Received College Transcript 1 [university] [date]

Missing & Required Course evaluation required COMP SCI I Missing & Required

Note: this morning the status of my course evaluation requests changed. They are now in phase “Department”. (This board won’t let me amend my previous post.)

The status seems little confusing to me. according to my knowledge, u need to fulfill the missing requirement. otherwise they cannot give u a decision.
to be noted: when I had some missing requirement, my status was: application incomplete.

Hey guys can you please post the classes you took your fall and spring semester and what major you are. I’m trying to apply for admission next year as a transfer to Georgia Tech so it would really help to get an idea of what classes to take. Can you also give me advice and tips that will help me with admission in Tech. Please and thanks in advance. Can you also tell me how many credit hours you had fall and spring semester?

@Reckoned,
Fall 2012: English Composition II, Calculus III, Physics I, Engineering Graphics & Designing II, Macro-Economics. Total 17 credit hours.
Spring 2013: Statics, Physics II, Linear Algebra, Chemistry II, Introduction to Engineering. Total 17 credit hours.
I think, u should take as much science courses as possible. Take some engineering courses. And try your best to get A in most of the courses.
My major is Civil Engineering. I had 59 credit hours with a CGPA 3.77. After Summer I have 68 credits and CGPA 3.80.

@Khanprat Thank you very much! Are you a freshman transferring as a sophomore or a sophomore transferring as junior? If you are sophomore transferring as junior can you please post your freshman year classes. Thank you very much!

I am transferring as a sophomore.
Btw, do not forget to complete all the required courses! This is the very first requirement to be considered as a candidate.

Ya, Im going to complete my required courses next semester. Okay thank you very much.

try to complete the recommended classes. i don’t have a high gpa but i took recommended classes on spring. i think it is the one that make accepted

Hope to see all your faces tomorrow!! GT first day!

Hi I am an international student. I have already got accepted to a university for undergraduate degree in engineering as a freshman for spring 14. I think I will attend this university for now and will transfer to Georgia Tech later. Actually I don’t know any thing about how to transfer. So could you guys please answer my questions stated below regarding transfer?
In which semester should I start applying for the transfer, also can I apply for transfer to Georgia Tech after the first semester of my freshman year? What subjects should I take in my freshman year to get a good chance for transferring to the university for an engineering major(mainly mechanical or aerospace)? What is the best possible GPA that I need to get, to have a good chance for transfer? Are extra curricular activities important if so I am hoping to join some clubs in freshman , mainly science club, debate club, community services, etc. Will I join any more clubs to make my application for transfer more strong if so please state them? Also do you think that the university will give me any sort of financial aid after transferring even though I am international student?
