<p>Well I called and got the " we sent a letter thing" and sure enough I got a rejection letter in the mail!</p>
<p>I’m so nervous, I haven’t recieved anything yet. I guess I’m gonna have to call today

<p>I am an Asian-American finalist from Portland, Oregon. When I got the email and letter, it was a sigh of relief. I will be able to attend UCLA, New York University, or Berkeley this fall now. :)</p>
<p>keep in mind that the chances of getting it is very very slim. </p>
<p>Not trying to sound like a downer, but we have less than 40% chance of getting it, so don’t get your hopes up TOO much! :)</p>
<p>Waiting is agonizing! I check my email dozens of times today and still nothing. My faith is dwindling. I just want to know whether I’m a finalist or not so I can get on with my life.

<p>For those who might be wondering how many of us made it to the finalist round this year. I asked a Gates Rep. and they told me that about 1800 students became finalists and only 8000 completed the app this year although 24000 applied.</p>
<p>star2012, really?! I thought it was 2k-6k that were finalists. </p>
<p>And what do you mean only 8000 completed the app? Don’t they all have to complete it in order to apply?</p>
<p>I got a call from a rep today as well just confirming everything, but I was too scared to ask how many finalists there were haha.</p>

<p>Well guys, just received a letter saying I didn’t make it. This is absolutely devastating and I don’t know what to do. I’m a bit confused as to why the UNCF-United Negro College Fund sent me this letter because I’m apart of APIASF. Whatever…I’m so heartbroken. Worked soo hard. </p>

<p>Same here cupcake608. I got a letter from the UNCF and I’m part of the APIASF. </p>
<p>Anyways, I didn’t make it as well, but all of us non-finalists should walk away with our heads held high for attempting such a difficult scholarship; I’m sure we’ll make it far in the future!</p>

<p>I am still awaiting a letter and/or email from UNCF. It doesn’t seem like many African Americans have gotten notified. I am fearing the worst, and I don’t even have my letter yet. Do people who aren’t finalists get emails? I would like to know that. Thanks everyone!</p>
