<p>^probably. I mean, if the SAR shows that the applicant isn’t pell grant eligible or the gpa form shows that their gpa is lower than 3.3, I’m sure they’d insta-disqualify the applicant because they don’t meet their basic requirements to receive the scholarship.</p>

<p>They choose the scholars based on their leadership, involvement in EC’s and, to a lesser extent, their success in school. But like all decisions, their process isn’t exactly clear.</p>

but I did still qualify for a chunk of the Pell grant :)</p>

<p>Yes, because it isn’t based on EFC amount but qualifying for the pell grant. While my EFC is a few thousand, I still qualify for the pell grant, which means that I qualify for the scholarship.</p>

<p>I wouldn’t be able to give you a true answer, but I would think that the importance depends on the applicant considered. Each applicant is a unique and special case.
They may have some sort of ranking, but it would only be speculation.</p>
