I thought they notify applicants of that information around April…?

Semi-Finalists will be notified around March 8th :)

Where are you guys even getting this information? I’m pretty positive there is no such thing as a “second phase” with semi-finalists.

I submitted my Gates Application in already. What are the chances of me getting it?

And there is a direct quote. :)

Are all Scholars required to attend the ceremony in order to receive the scholarship???

^
I have never heard of a ceremony, my daughter didn’t go to one but that was nearly 4 years ago. There is however a weekend conference in the fall of your freshman year. Depending on where you are in UG, you either go to one on the East or the West coast. GMSP does pay your transportation costs and hotel.

Oh my god! It’s almost March and results will be out soon! I am starting to freak out! Good luck to everyone!

@geiger42: You have great Leadership Potential and excellent academic achievement, so I say you have a nice shot at it.

Will we be notified even if we’re not finalists? Or do finalists receive an email, only?

Oh never mind, I didn’t notice the post by BethanyD213 earlier. I really hope everything turns out well! :(

Everyday that goes by, I get more nervous!! I’m scared to even open the email!

I can’t wait either  I’m applying for a few more scholarships but this one would make the biggest impact.

Quick Question. I have two national awards on community Service, one award from the county I live in on community Service, and four Academic Awards from my School. I have over one thousand hours of community service, I wrote essays with good content. My question is how good is my chances if I have 4 minor errors in 3 of my essays. I reread them and discovered the errors after I reread them the sixth time. Keep in mind all the things I said on top. Will it effect my chances of earning the Scholarship?

I forget to say that these are minor grammatical errors. I have great leadership potential. I am the Communications Chairperson of the Dolton Youth Commission, and Students Against Violence Everywhere, Student Representative of the Student Board of Education, Jury Foreman of the Youth Court, and the Recorder of the National Honor Society. Can they overlook the errors if my content is really good. I only made 4 minor errors but its only on 4 of my essays.

I would assume that they’d overlook the minor errors if everything else stands out. Plus I think when they read the essays they don’t search out errors but they focus on the content

wow @geiger42: your profile sounds amazing! and i’m pretty sure since you have outstanding qualities and positions, the minor errors in your essays won’t be too much of an issue. I’m beginning to get extremely nervous now oh my god…
